Charlie learned to work with his hands at a young age. As a young man, he built custom made jewelry, models, and excelled in the woodshop. He continued to advance his skills in woodworking, metal shaping, welding, and auto repair.
After high school graduation, Charlie served in the United States Military. Upon his return from overseas, he pursued an automotive repair career while continuing woodworking as a hobby. After completing woodworking courses at Palomar College in the late 1970s, he started Charlies Custom Cabinets.
John showed a talent for playing music at a young age. During his childhood, he learned to play multiple instruments including drums. He was the Drum Major at Carlsbad High School. He also had a passion for architecture and design.
After high school graduation, John attended Palomar College, taking woodworking courses along with academic courses. He started working in the field of construction doing carpentry work and framing. While working in construction, he also helped with woodworking projects.
